Project: Davros (Radio Controlled)

This was a very fun project. Again, it is one of my early creations, so there are a number of things I would do differently.

Recipe
Matrix: 12" Neo figure
Jacket from 21st Century Matilda figure
Radio Controlled Jeep
Foam-core board
Styrofoam Balls
Craft Wire
Metal Beads

The figure is a 12" Neo figure from the Matrix. I guess this is what Keanu Reeves would look like playing Davros… I sculpted the head from Sculpey. (After a couple of years, this is now showing cracks in the head. I would recommend using Super Sculpey instead.) I placed the finished figure in the jacket and glued the collar stretched over the neck to give that Kaled-esque fashion style.

I then attached the figure to the base of a old radio controlled Jeep I had lying around. This worked great, except for the fact that I had to make his Dalek base large enough to allow for tire clearance when they turned. Thus, his base is much larger than Davros’ actual base from the show.

The Dalek base is made from foam-core board, glued together, and Styrofoam balls (cut in half) glued to the panels. This base I built around the remote control jeep. It did not turn out as cleanly as I would have liked. In future, I would find a smaller radio controlled car to use in the base. Sean at AdventureTeam.com has a great Dalek project. http://sean.adventureteam.com/pages/customs/daleks.htm If I were to redo this figure, I would use Sean’s method of Dalek production for the base.

As I said, this project was a lot of fun. Plus, he is actually radio controlled. I’ve had a lot of fun chasing my mother-in-law’s dog with this one. EXTERMINATE!!!!
